Award-Winning Journalist and Photographer captures the grace, beauty, and strength of black dancers in motion in the pages of his first published book
LOS ANGELES, JANUARY 16, 2019 -- Hal Banfield, Author of the forthcoming title “I Am Dance: Words and Images of the Black Dancer”, shares the narratives of over a dozen black dancers from all walks with stories to tell in his new book.
“I Am Dance: Words and Images of the Black Dancer” shines a spotlight on dancers from the concert to the commercial world of dance, and infuses stories from dancers, in their own words, about the space they hold in the world of dance, what dance means to them primarily and what being a dancer of color represents to them, especially. It is an intimate encounter with dancers that will leave you with not just beautiful images to behold, but will also share a love and appreciation for the art of dance, with insight into the talent, passion, heart, and revelations of dancers of color.
“When Hal first pitched his book idea to me, I knew immediately that this would be a necessary and game changing project that would not only shine a spotlight on the featured dancers, but the black dance community as a whole. “I Am Dance” is such a revolutionary statement and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will impact the lives of those who purchase the book.”
